2nd Degree Black Belt

Candidate for: 3rd Dan Black Belt


1-Step Sparring Techniques

  1. Knife hand block, same hand palm heel strike to jaw

  2. Block inside, strike solar plexus, body drop throw, punch floating ribs

  3. Block inside open hand, to the side in a back stance, strike solar plexus, ankle / knee takedown

  4. Front kick - block, back fist to knee, spear hand to solar plexus, take down

  5. Back kick - block outside, strike carotid artery, sweep support leg, attack kidney or back of ribs


Hoshinsul

  1. Both wrists grabbed Outside spin wristlock

Black Belt Dialogue 2

1st opponent: attacks with spin kick. Defender: spinning block, elbow strike.

2nd opponent: attacks with round kick. Defender: spinning block, knife hand strike.

1st opponent: attacks with round kick. Defender: 2 hand circular swing block, trapping leg, knife hand to throat, and reap.

1st opponent: attacks with turn kick. Defender: moves in close deflecting block, sweeps support leg..

BLACK BELT PRINCIPLES – 2ND DAN


  1. Block opening his back side

When possible open the opponent’s back side for advantage.

  1. Follow his step

    1. This is an offensive principle.

    2. You keep the opponent disoriented by following him closely keeping him off balance and staying within striking range.

    3. Keep your guard up and stay close to nullify his ability to strike.

  2. Follow his power direction

    1. This is a defensive principle found in all of the soft and circular arts.

    2. With linear attacks yield to the opponent’s force by flowing with his power direction and/or stepping out of the line of power.

    3. With circular attacks move in toward the opponent’s center and attack or redirect the opponent’s force.

  3. Both hands swing block

    1. Very relaxed flowing circular blocking used for muliple attacks.

    2. Useful for redirecting the opponent to off balance them and set up for a take down.

  4. Rotate one step when opponent moves two

    1. Pivot on stationary back foot by moving front foot as opponent circles you.

    2. A good principle for maintaining a nonaggressive but assertive postion.

  5. Cross stepping

    1. Useful for changing angles and directions to set up for an attack

    2. Draw an imaginaary line with one foot and cross that line with the other by either stepping or moving into a kick or hand strike.

    3. Excellent for dealing with one or more opponents.

  6. Don’t move before the opponent moves

    1. This principle helps one learn to avide telegraphing

    2. wait until the best moment to attack or block

    3. to avid unnecessary aggression

    4. and to convey an image of calm confidence in the face of threat or danger

  1. Move in close as I block

    1. This enables one to be in a position to takedown or restrain the oponent

    2. Clinch the oppoenent taking away his ablity to attack

  2. Move two times on one step

    1. Double kicks with the same foot

    2. 2 strikes with the same hand

    3. 2 blocks with the same hand

    4. Combination block and attack 2 times in a row with the same limb

  3. Defense against multiple opponents
